How long is the redemption period in Tennessee?
The redemption period is based on how delinquent the property's property taxes are.
The redemption period is based on how delinquent the property’s property taxes are. If taxes are
up to 5 years delinquent, the redemption period is one year from the date the tax sale is
confirmed by court order. If the taxes are 6 – 7 years delinquent, the redemption period is 180
days from confirmation. If the taxes are 8 or more years delinquent, the redemption period is 90
days from confirmation.
Please note that many Shelby County, Tennessee, properties may have both county and municipal property taxes due. The redemption period is based on whichever tax (county or municipality) is more severe.
